Election Night

Election night presents a dilemma – I cannot bear the battle of screaming ideologues that passes for news and commentary these days, and I really don't want to hear projections and assumptions based on exit polls and five percent of precincts reporting. On the other hand, no one would dispute that this is a Big Night. So I think the only rational thing to do is to watch whatever it is that Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert are doing by way of a primetime special, then switch over to the BBC America, which always brings a fresh, if not particularly well-coiffed, perspective.

In other news, fresh reports of a potential re-stirring of the Revolt of the Appliances, with the dishwasher firing the opening salvo across the kitchen floor – suspiciously, just as soon as I had sent all the dirty dishtowels down to the laundry. Coincidence? Lousy economy or not, some appliances shouldn't think they're irreplaceable.
