I have very little to say other than that I'm getting out on the bike today -- earliest road ride ever -- but I just had to share these interesting and bizarre links I tripped across this week:

I'm especially sorry to hear Fyvie died under tragic circumstances. His compatriot was Kolterman(n?). I dimly recall each had daughters one year behind us in school -- might even have been mixed-up in those 4/5 and 5/6 classes we suffered at Mohawk. I love the historic marker link! My dad (taught Soc. Studies in S. Colonie SD) perennially proposed a project for students to re-inventory a New Deal-era (WPA?)census of markers and sites. Even in days when schools were gung-ho on field trips, this one got busted again and again. I've long though he should just do it himself, as he really appreciates the history, knows the sites already, and already knows where some markers are missing. I've passed the link along and expect he'll laud and magnify your name...I spent most of the day in Cooperstown, suffering a series of buffets at the Otesaga. (Union training: Buffet Endurance and Strategy sessions.) I've not been in the area for many years, and forgot what a pretty place it is when not filled with tourists. Must get back with my camera and see if I can capture a bit. It sucks being me with a camera, but I persevere in hopes of some epiphany that will redeem all my earlier efforts. Maybe I'll just take up whittlin', instead.#1 son grad-jee-ates in June, so we're just picking ourselves up off the floor after receiving our financial aid package. The "Do It Yourself" stamp on the envelope should have provided a big clue; it is to weep.
