Katrina revisited

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
What seemed like just a very bad storm has now turned into what may be the worst natural disaster we've seen in this country. The breaking of the levees and the flooding of areas that otherwise had survived the storm -- and then the loss of electricity, water, sewer that followed from that -- it's just unbelievable. And the number of people who have to be rescued went up from those who were just riding it out to people who really did have an expectation that they would be safe. I can't even imagine how the responders will be trying to organize -- or maybe I can, having been through some of these things, and I know how achingly slow it's all going to seem to them. Completely without resources, and not much to do with the resources when they get them. People will be displaced for months, at least.

The only thing we can do from here is donate.
