After the whine

After the previous whine about having to get on the 6:55 am train (and, in fact, the sun is up by then these days), I was rewarded for my efforts by a vision of graceful loveliness I've never seen before: Washington Square in the snow. Just an inch or two, but sticky and covering everything -- bushes, trees, the arch, a coffee vendor. I really wanted to stop and take some pictures, but was late for a meeting. On the one hand, I regret the missed opportunity, because the arch especially was dazzlingly lovely in the morning sun, and when I came back out, the sun had given way to dreary gray and the arch was just an arch. On the other hand, the room my meeting was in had a wonderful view of the arch, and anyone sitting in the meeting would have been able to see me dawdling my time away outside, taking pictures, instead of attending the meeting, which is definitely Behavior Unbecoming a Public Official. Oh, well. Have to go down again next week, by which time I'm kinda hoping it will have warmed enough to enjoy coffee in Bryant Park, one of my favorite pleasures in life.
