Today's brain marshmallow

"A Taste of Honey." Not The Beatles' version, or even the Ventures' version, but the full-on '60s hokum Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass version. (Anybody else vaguely remember a short period of time in the '80s when Herb Alpert was declared cool because he was working with Janet Jackson, and suddenly he was everywhere, regaling us with True Tales of A&M Records and endlessly fascinating interviewers with the fact that there never was a group called The Tijuana Brass? Or was I just suffering a fever?) Egad. What's next?! "The Alleycat"?!! (Mr. Acker Bilk and Bent Fabric. God help me for knowing that.)
(Not only is Acker Bilk still touring, but he apparently was awarded an MBE. Those Brits will give one of those to anybody. I blame it on the bossa nova.)
